- مدير التصوير: The film captures several aspects of the harsh class differences in pre – revolutionary Egypt. Ahmad returns home after graduating as an agricultural engineer, full of hopes and plans to increase the sugarcane output and bring prosperity to his village, located close to Luxor in the South of Egypt. The young engineer eventually succeeds in offering a major sugar company a product that could compete with the one cultivated in the pasha’s land. In coordination with his nephew Riyad, the pasha conspires to flood the village fields and spoil the crops of its peasants. Soon after the villagers recognize his hand in the flooding conspiracy, the pasha plots to kill the village’s local leader and then frames Ahmad’s father, who is consequently jailed, tried, and then hanged.

ملخص:
صعيد مصر قبل ثورة يوليو 1952: يعمل الباشا الإقطاعي بواسطة ابن أخيه رياض على تدمير محاصيل أراضي الفلاحين حتى ترتفع أسعار محاصيل أرضه. يتآمر رياض، ويقتل الشيخ عبد الصمد بحيث يتهم بقتله صابر والد أحمد الذي يتبادل الحب مع آمال ابنة الباشا. يقرر سليم ابن الشيخ عبد الصمد الثأر بقتل أحمد. يحاول أحمد إثبات براءة والده، ولكنه يفشل، ويتم إعدام صابر. يطلب أحمد من سليم التعاون معه لكشف القاتل الحقيقي. رياض يقتل عمه الباشا، ولكن الباشا يعترف بالحقيقة قبل أن يموت، ويقبض على رياض.
